How To Prepare Carrots - 5 Cutting Options

If you'd like to know how to prepare carrots then this is the video for you. We provide five different techniques which require either a knife, peeler or grater. This video is part of our basic vegetable preparation series which is ideal for beginner at-home cooks.

How to prepare carrots

Carrots are perfectly fine cooked with their skin on. If you don't like the skin, then use a peeler to remove the skins then cut off the stalk. Otherwise, simply give your carrots a rinse under water and cut off the stalk.

How to dice a carrot

To dice a carrot slice it lengthwise then place the flat side on the chopping board. Slice the carrot into about four lengths then gather them into a bunch. Slice them horizontally to create even sized cubes.

Looking for a method other than dicing? Other options include shaving the entire carrot using a peeler, grating, or simply cutting horizontal thin slices of the entire carrot. To find out all the cutting techniques watch the video.
