If you can’t spend the whole day awake and without napping, it’s possible that your diet is to blame. Certain foods will lift and wake us up, while others will contribute to fatigue.
This is not just about fast and plentiful food. Some foods that we consider healthy also contribute to fatigue.
If you feel tired these days and can’t seem to get any sleep at all, consider limiting your intake of these five foods throughout the day.

Cherries
This fruit is naturally rich in melatonin which controls your sleep and wake cycles. An extra dose of melatonin can send a signal to your body that it’s time to sleep, so try cherries (as well as cherry juice, which also has large amounts of melatonin) as a dessert after dinner.

Bread
Carbohydrates cause a rapid jump in blood glucose levels which can cause you to have a sudden surge of energy. But when your glucose levels start to drop again, you are likely to experience an energy drop that will encourage fatigue.
White bread is especially problematic for lethargy, while whole grain bread will be a less likely cause of fatigue.

Dark Chocolate
Although dark chocolate contains caffeine, it also contains serotonin, a neurotransmitter that can help you relax. Interestingly, milk chocolate does not contain serotonin and can actually make you more alert.

Lean proteins such as turkey, fish, chicken, and low-fat cheese are rich in tryptophan, an amino acid that increases serotonin levels.
